LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A Great Mills man is facing multiple criminal charges, including fourth-degree sexual offense, second-degree assault, and indecent exposure, after an alleged incident involving a staff member at a group home in St. Mary’s County.

On Feb. 4, 2025, deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential group home in Great Mills for a report of indecent exposure. Upon arrival, authorities spoke with the victim, a staff member of a mental health service who was at the home to dispense medication to clients.

According to court documents, the victim stated that she initially spoke with Paul Arthur McGinty, 38, while he was cleaning the residence. After giving him his prescribed daily dose of Xanax, she continued her duties. A short time later, McGinty allegedly re-entered the room with his genitals exposed and began rubbing against her.

The victim told investigators that McGinty placed both hands on her hips, thrust his waist toward her, and continued to rub himself against her midsection. She repeatedly told him to stop and attempted to walk away, but he allegedly continued the behavior.

She was eventually able to leave the residence, at which point McGinty followed her outside, sat on the porch, and began spitting up an unknown substance while convulsing. The victim stated that McGinty had possibly smoked crack cocaine in his bedroom before the incident, leading to his erratic behavior.

Another resident of the home removed what appeared to be a glass smoking device from McGinty and discarded it before officers arrived. When deputies questioned McGinty, he admitted to consuming Xanax, Percocet, and crack cocaine all at once but denied exposing himself to the victim.

McGinty was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, where he was held without bond following his initial court appearance on Feb. 5, 2025.

He has been charged with fourth-degree sexual offense, which carries a penalty of up to one year in jail and/or a $1,000 fine; second-degree assault, which is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $2,500 fine; and indecent exposure, which carries a penalty of up to three years in prison and a $1,000 fine.

During a bail review hearing before Judge James Tanavage, McGinty was denied bond and remains in custody pending further court proceedings. His trial is scheduled for March 6, 2025, in St. Mary’s District Court.

  1. Um, neck tat! Who employes someone with neck/face tats? Nobody in their right mind would get them with the intention of ever finding a legal job again.

    1. You need to read the article better!! He is not the employee, it states “she” as the victim, “she” is the employee… not him. Even so, tattoos do not make a person who they are, and it’s sad you think so.

  2. Convict him off 4th degree sex offense and court order him to register as a sex offender
