Leonardtown, MD – Fall has officially arrived and thereโs no better way to celebrate than by going to the St. Maryโs Annual County Fair at the Fairgrounds in Leonardtown.
The fair has a deep rooted history in St. Maryโs County. It began in 1947, when the St. Maryโs County Fair Association was founded. The very first fair was held in Breton Bay and in 1949, the government had given land dedicated to housing the fair and it still remains today. St. Maryโs County actually hosted two fairs, one for the blacks and one for the whites, until it became one fair in 1963.
Every year, the residents of St. Maryโs County look forward to great food, exciting exhibits, and the latest attractions. Some of this yearโs activities include: chainsaw sculptures, jousting tournaments, horse shows, concerts, the Fair Parade, carnival rides, a variety of different exhibits and displays and much, much, more.
The fair takes place Thursday, Sept. 21 through Sunday, Sept. 24 and opens at 4 p.m. on Thursday. For more information about hours and admission, please go to their web site.
