“The Blaine Whorl Memorial 5k and Scholarship is such an integral part of our lives and our mission to keep Blaine’s spirit alive,” said Mary Carrice Whorl, Blaine’s sister. “Through the generosity of this community, we are able to maintain the Blaine Whorl Scholarship and continue to provide financial aid to students!”
Established in memory of Blaine, a member of the St. Mary’s Ryken Class of 2002, the scholarship recognizes students who share Blaine’s passion and interest in history and the community. Scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen who are graduates of a St. Mary’s County middle school and are active in community ser-vice activities or clubs.
