On April 21 at 9:30 p.m., the Charles County Sheriff’s Office’s auto theft detail located a stolen vehicle unoccupied in the Festival Shopping Center on Festival Way in Waldorf.
Officers established surveillance of the vehicle and waited for someone to occupy it.
When Jose Angel Aguilar, 27, of Waldorf entered the vehicle, he was subsequently arrested and charged with unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and theft valued at more than $500.
He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.
Officers found the vehicle while using a device that reads tag numbers and identifies stolen tags and vehicles. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Montgomery County. Det. D. Gross investigated.
