WALDORF, Md. – On May 20, three students at JP Ryon Elementary School assaulted another student. The student who was assaulted was taken to a medical facility by their parents for treatment of injuries sustained during the assault.

The assault was reported to school administrators after school hours and the school resource officer was notified. In accordance with MD law, the three students involved in the assault cannot be charged criminally due to their ages; however, the students face consequences from the CCPS.

The school resource officer notified the Charles County Department of Juvenile Services. Anyone with information may contact PFC Hancock at 301-609-3282 ext. 0499.

  1. What happened to the practice of “expulsion”? It would seem to be a very effective punishment for those that choose not to follow CCPS rules for student deportment. This would also involve parents or guardians regarding their students behavior at school. A tough lesson but a necessary one to quell the bad behavior at school. The punishment would also be reflected in the end of year CCPS reporting. By the way, if parents cannot be at home with their expelled student, daycare facilities would have to be arranged. CCPS should maintain a list of daycare facilities for this purpose.

  2. So you canโ€™t charge the kids, well how about the victimโ€™s parents sue the parents of the offenders?
