Elkton, MD — Maryland State Police have arrested a 23-year-old Elkton man and charged him with two counts each of attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony after a double shooting early Monday morning.
Shortly after 1 a.m.,ย Zachary Hurt, approached Michael Sells, 27, and Alexis Blickenstaff, 24, and for reasons unknown, shot them and fled the scene.ย Each victim sustained a gunshot wound and each was taken to Christiana Hospital for treatment of what medical personnel believe are non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the victims were uncooperative with police.
Information was developed that he may be inside an abandoned trailer in the unit block of Keithly Avenue in Elkton. Officers established a perimeter around the scene.ย Shortly before 10 a.m. Monday, the suspect walked out of a wooded area near the trailer and surrendered to troopers without incident.
The suspect was not armed when he was arrested.ย Investigators are continuing to search for the firearm used as part of their ongoing investigation.ย A motive for this incident is not clear at this time.
