WALDORF, Md. — A Waldorf woman has been charged with theft following an alleged shoplifting incident at a Target store in Charles County, according to court records.

Samiyah Malerie Thomas, 19, is charged with theft of property valued at $100 to under $1,500, a misdemeanor under Maryland law. The charge stems from an incident reported Dec. 27, 2025, at the Target store located along Western Parkway.

A deputy with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to the store after loss prevention personnel reported a shoplifting incident. Store staff identified Thomas and a juvenile suspected of taking merchandise without paying.

Charging documents allege Thomas walked past all points of sale with unpaid merchandise concealed in her purse. Officers reported that Thomas initially denied having unpaid items before a search allegedly revealed several items of store merchandise.

Store surveillance footage was reviewed as part of the investigation. The total value of the allegedly stolen items was reported to be approximately $130.89, according to court records.

Thomas was released on her own recognizance following her arrest.

A court hearing is set for Feb. 17, 2026, in Charles County District Court.
