
Breakfast with Santa also featured an opportunity to make gingerbread cookies
Leonardtown, MD — It was a day for the students of the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center in Leonardtown to show off their skills for an always well-attended community event. The students and staff at the tech center held their annual Breakfast with Santa Saturday and the proceeds went to the schoolโs SkillsUSA chapter and student programs.
The centerโs Culinary Arts students prepared and served the breakfast which included a bountiful buffet of traditional items. While breakfast was being served, in one corner of the main hall, Santa was holding court with his helpful elves and parents were given the opportunity of getting pictures of their childโs visit.
Elsewhere around the school, a room was dedicated to gingerbread making and another to face-painting.
As everyone entered the school they were treated to a performance by the Skills USA puppeteers.
The schoolโs new Internet radio station, TC Radio, was doing a live broadcast during the breakfast.
According to a press release, The James A. Forrest Career and Technology Centerโs SkillsUSA chapter is โamong the most successful in the state and annually must fundraise over $25,000 to cover the cost of leadership training, chapter activities and regional, state and national competition.โ
The press release goes on to say, โThe Forest Centerโs SkillsUSA Chapter is also participating in the SkillsUSA Maryland fundraiser for the Fisher House Foundation, According to the foundationโs web site, “Fisher Houses provide military families housing close to a loved one during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury.โ For more information on Fisher House go to their web site: www.fisherhouse.org
