CALVERT COUNTY
The North Beach Farmers’ Market taking place every Saturday through October 26 (8 am to 11:30 am), located at Senior Center Parking Lot, 9010 Chesapeake Avenue, North Beach, MD – We are pleased to continue our traditional, small-town atmosphere farmers’ market for the 2024 season! The market will include local vendors with items such as plants, farm vegetables, baked goods, meats, cheeses, eggs and other fresh goods. The Town of North Beach encourages all guests to HELP REDUCE WASTE by bringing your own bag and using the appropriate disposal containers provided at the market.
Children’s Day on the Farmon June 2 (11 am to 4 pm), located at Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum, 10515 Mackall Rd, Saint Leonard, MD – Bring the entire family for a day of fun with live performances, crafts, games, wagon rides and food vendors. Check out the demonstrations and exhibits to learn about rural life in the past and today. This free event is generously supported by the Friends of JPPM.
CHARLES COUNTY
The Shops At Waldorf Center Farmers Market taking place every Saturday through mid-November (weather permitting) (10 am to 2 pm), located at Shops at Waldorf Center, 3003 Festival Way, Waldorf, MD – Guests are encouraged to visit the Farmers Market, held in the parking lot near CAVA, to find fresh local fruits and vegetables, including strawberries, apples, oranges, asparagus, avocados, and tomatoes. Additionally, there will also be local makers, soaps, honey, baked goods and flowers. Visiting the Farmers Market is free and open to the public; no pre-registration is required. Hike and Taste at Corteau Vineyards on June 1 (11 am), located at 38625 Golden Beach Rd, Mechanicsville, MD – Our last Hike & Taste was canceled due to rain. This Saturday looks much better. This is your chance to explore the farther fields with Peter, Gerald, and Callie. You’ll learn about the current growth stage of bloom while enjoying the wine of the field you’re in! Wine Club: be sure to choose the Wine Club option for your discount. The hike will begin at 11 a.m. and meets at the Corteau Tasting Room. The hike includes steep inclines – no sandals permitted. $30 per person.
Reggie Rice COMEDY MAGIC SHOW with World Famous Comedy Illusionist on June 1 (8 pm to 10 pm), located at TapHouse 1637, 23418 Three Notch Road, California, MD – This Is A Fundraiser for Bryanna’s Love a 501c (3) Bryanna’s Love was founded in honor of Bryanna Kitchen, who was diagnosed with Early T-cell Precursor Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ETP-ALL) three weeks after her 9th birthday. She passed away three short months later on October 24th, 2016. One of the few things that gave her strength to smile during her stay in the hospital was the many stuffed animals and the blanket she received, which stayed close to her side throughout treatment. It is through that experience that Bryanna’s Love, Inc was founded to provide the same comfort to patients and families battling childhood cancer at Children’s Hospitals around the United States. It is our goal to reach as many brave children and their families as we can through our programs: Give Kids a Snuggle, Sibling Love, and Home to Care. Tickets $20-$25.
Volunteer Work Day on June 1 (9 am to 2 pm), located at Greenwell Foundation, 25410 Rosedale Manor Ln, Hollywood, MD – We need help cleaning up around our barn! We have a lot of overgrowth happening in our arenas and around our barn. Some of the tasks for this day will be: -Clearing out weeds and brush -Deconstructing swells -Removing overgrown plants/weeds -Moving corral panels -Clearing/Reorganizing the loft *We will provide the tools and gloves for you to use The time for this event is 9AM to 2PM but we are not expecting anyone to stay the whole time.
