At about 8:30 p.m. Aug. 1, St. Maryโ€™s County deputies responded to Five Guys Burgers and Fries on Worth Ave in California for the report of a robbery in progress.

A lookout was broadcast for the suspect vehicle leaving the scene. The vehicle was almost immediately located by Dep. Dodson, still occupied by the driver and one passenger at the Target parking lot nearby.

The occupants were held for identification by the victim. The passenger, Lex Parker Reid, said there was no other persons with them. A few minutes later, Dep. Dodson located the third suspect crouching in a dark corner of a nearby bank.

This suspect was detained as well. Investigation by Dep. Graves revealed the third suspect had been with Lex Parker Reid when they left Five Guys Restaurant.

The manager at the restaurant advised that a subject later identified as Jeffrey Keith Reid entered the restaurant and engaged the manager in a dispute over money Reid demanded to be refunded.

When Reid’s actions escalated, the manager moved to the office. Reid grabbed the manager at which time the manager entered the office and closed the door. Reid attempted to force his way into the locked office. The manager then called the police and Reid fled.

Lex Reid, 19 of Lexington Park, was charged with Hindering an investigation. Jeffrey Reid, 39 of Lexington Park, was charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Burglary and Assault 2nd Degree.

Additionally, Jeffrey Reid was charged with Theft Under $100 in an unrelated open warrant. Dep. Jason Graves transported both to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. Both were held pending a hearing before a District Court Commissioner.
