CHESAPEAKE BEACH, Md. – The Chair of the Town of Chesapeake Beach Board of Elections issues the following notices regarding the upcoming Town election for Mayor and Town Council.

1. No Early Voting: the Town does not have Early Voting. If you vote early in the Federal Election, you will still need to take action to vote in the Town election.

2. Not registered to vote in the Town? Registration is currently closed and the Town does not have “same day registration” (SDR). However, there are still options for you to vote in the Town election if not currently registered and you missed the deadline. Maryland law allows same day registration (SDR) for the County/State/Federal Election during their Early Voting Days and on Election Day. Our Town Code allows a Town provisional ballot for voters that are added to Maryland universal registration system using Maryland’s SDR process during the period Town registration is closed (Town Code 22-40 C (4)). Also, our Town Code allows a Town provisional ballot for an individual registered to vote elsewhere in Maryland but now resides in and is entitled to register in Chesapeake Beach (Town Code 22-40 C (1)). Note: do not vote in both places, the County will catch this when I submit your application to them during the canvassing process.

3. Options for Voting in the Town Election:

a. Vote in person on 5 November at Northeast Community Center Mini Gym (inside to left) 7a.m. to 8 p.m. The Town Election is not covered on the federal general election ballot; therefore, all Town residents must come to the Northeast Community Center Mini-Gym to vote for the Town election.

  1. let me just ask: we have judges, yes\ no judges\ appeals judges. They never get no’ed out of office. Why is it that the yes is in front of the no, the yes is before the no? Why isn’t no\ yes, instead of yes\ no. If it were no\ yes, would the judges stand a chance of getting no’ ed out of office? Are these yes votes by default, or because they’re the 1st option? What would happen if it were no 1st? Would questions fail, etc.? Why is the ballot set up like that?!
