
Prince Frederick, MD โ ย A man and woman from Chesapeake Beach who allegedly caused harm to an elderly man who was in their care have been tentatively scheduled to go on trial in early January, Calvert County Circuit Court records stated.
The defendants, identified in court documents as Jeffrey Jackson Brown, 39 and Teresa Lee Brown, 33, were indicted back in May. The three-count criminal indictment charges both with first-degree abuse or neglect of a vulnerable adult, which is a felony; conspiracy to commit first-degree abuse or neglect of a vulnerable adult and second-degree abuse or neglect of a vulnerable adult. The indictment lists a third person charged in the third count. The Browns face a maximum of 25 years in jail for the charges.
Assistant Stateโs Attorney Kathryn Marsh said both Jeffrey Brown and Teresa Brown are being held in lieu of bond.
According to court documents, Jeffrey Brown is being represented by Joseph F. Vallario Jr. and Teresa Brown is represented by Sonji A. Moore.
Marsh confirmed that no police report is available for public records. The indictments stem from testimony presented at a grand jury hearing. The criminal indictment alleges the violations occurred between late August 2013 and early May of this year. The indictment further alleges the defendantsโ actions โdid cause neglect of a vulnerable adult, that resulted in serious physical injury.โ
Court documents stated the victim was in the Brownsโ โpermanent careโ when the neglect and abuse allegedly occurred.
The tentative dates for the criminal jury trial are Jan. 7 through 9.
