Waldorf, MD โ€“ ย Two people sustained smoke inhalation as a result of a garage fire Monday evening, Jan. 4 in Waldorf, state officials reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office, the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Rosewood Drive.

โ€œThe garage fire was discovered by a passerby, who notified the homeowner,โ€ stated Dfm. Zack Dell. โ€œFire department units responded and extinguished the fire. Two adults were transported to the local hospital where they were treated and released for smoke inhalation.โ€

Forty firefighters from Waldorf, Bryans Road, Prince Georgeโ€™s County and Potomac Heights were dispatched to the one-alarm blaze and brought the flames under control in 10 minutes. Damage to the garage is estimated at $75,000.

According to Dell, the blaze originated inside the garage along interior wall wiring. An electrical malfunction caused the fire.

The owners of the garage are identified as Tonya and Andre Boyce.
