DUNKIRK, Md. – On November 13, 2024, an incident involving the unauthorized use of a vehicle and an allegedly impaired driver unfolded at a Harris Teeter parking lot in Dunkirk, Maryland. Deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from a woman who reported that her ex-boyfriend had taken her car without permission, damaged it in an accident, and returned to her workplace while appearing intoxicated.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a heavily damaged black sedan parked in the lot. The car’s airbags had deployed, and the front end appeared to have struck another vehicle. The woman explained to law enforcement that her ex-boyfriend had arrived back at her workplace in the car but was unresponsive and appeared to be under the influence.
Deputy MacWilliams approached the car and found the man slumped, passed out in the driver’s seat with the vehicle still running. Efforts to assess his condition and investigate the incident were initiated immediately. The ex-boyfriend was later identified as Antonio Francis Price, who was taken into custody on charges of felony unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.
Court records indicate that Price was released on a $3,000 unsecured personal bond the following day. The case remains open, with a trial scheduled for December 30, 2024, at the Calvert District Court.

“unauthorized use of a vehicle” sounds so much more innocent than “Stealing a Car”.
