INDIAN HEAD, Md. — A small fire broke out Sunday evening, June 15, 2025, inside the Potomac Heights Volunteer Fire and EMS Co. 7 station on Glymont Road, prompting a rapid response from area crews and a brief period of staging along Indian Head Highway.

Units were dispatched at approximately 6:45 p.m. after a report of a working kitchen fire. Battalion Chief 20 arrived on scene moments later and confirmed the fire was located in the station’s residential kitchen. Although smoke was initially reported, crews found nothing evident from the exterior on all four sides of the building.

The fire, which started in a stove and extended slightly into nearby cabinets, was quickly knocked down. The building’s sprinkler system activated and was later secured along with power and water to the affected area. Firefighters ensured there was no further extension beyond the kitchen.

No injuries were reported, and the situation was brought under control within minutes. Several responding tankers and engines were canceled en route as command scaled back the incident.

By 7:40 p.m., the station was turned back over to its members. The call was officially closed at 8:12 p.m. on June 15.
