MECHANICSVILLE, Md. – Two additional victims involved in last week’s two-vehicle crash on Route 235 in St. Mary’s County have died, bringing the total number of fatalities to three, Maryland State Police confirmed Thursday.
According to investigators, Casper Bradbury Sr., 92, and his wife, Norma Bradbury, 90, both of Mechanicsville, succumbed to their injuries after being airlifted to MedStar Washington Hospital Center Thursday evening. The couple had been traveling in a GMC Canyon at the time of the crash. Authorities previously confirmed that the driver of the other vehicle, Jean Gagnon, 59, also of Mechanicsville, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred around 5:58 p.m. at the intersection of Maryland Route 235 (Three Notch Road) and Mt. Zion Church Road. Maryland State Police said Bradbury was attempting to turn left onto Mt. Zion Church Road from the southbound lanes of Route 235 when he failed to yield to Gagnon’s northbound GMC Envoy. The Envoy struck the passenger side of the Canyon, causing significant damage to both vehicles.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team is continuing to lead the investigation.
