BRYANS ROAD, Md. — A vehicle overturned after reportedly striking a utility pole in Bryans Road on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025, sending one person to the hospital and prompting a utility response for sparking power lines.

The crash was reported around 8:10 a.m. near the intersection of Marshall Hall Road and Matthews Road. A caller told dispatchers a car “ran the light” and flipped twice before landing upright, with people in the area trying to help a passenger out of the vehicle.

Multiple callers later reported that the vehicle had hit a power pole, bringing down at least one line and causing wires to spark in trees near the parking lot of a Food Lion. Crews from SMECO were requested to the scene and arrived a short time later.

Firefighters quickly went to work to pop the door open so the patient could be removed safely. EMS evaluated one patient and transported them by ambulance to the UM Capital Region Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
