On Saturday, October 08, 2011, at approximately 4:40 pm, there was a report of an accident on Route 260 East and Harrison Blvd. The North Beach Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad (Co.1) responded to the call, as well as an ambulance from Dunkirk (Co.5). Later, an additional ambulance from Lothian came to the scene to transport the one adult patient.
It was reported that the driver pulled on to Route 260 East in front of the overturned vehicle. It was also reported that the driver of the overturned vehicle believed he might have hit the rear of the other vehicle. The other vehicle was not at the scene. There were one adult and three children in the overturned vehicle. The three children were transported to Childrens National Medical Center in Washington, DC. Two were transported by ground in the ambulance from Dunkirk and the other was transported by ambulance North Beach to landing zone to be flown to Childrens by Trooper 2.
The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office did a great job at traffic control while Route 260 East was closed.
