WALDORF, Md. โ€” Authorities are investigating a Waldorf hit-and-run that left a 45-year-old man with serious injuries on Friday night. The man was riding a scooter when a vehicle struck him and then fled the scene. First responders found the victim unconscious with significant head trauma.

The incident occurred around 9:49 p.m. on August 1, 2025. Emergency crews responded to a call at the intersection of Intersection Road and Progress Court in Waldorf for a reported vehicle collision. At the scene, they discovered the injured 45-year-old male scooter rider. A witness told dispatchers they saw the scooter get hit. However, the witness could not provide a description of the striking vehicle or its direction of travel.

Multiple emergency units arrived within minutes. They immediately began treating the victim for head injuries and facial scratches. Due to the severity of his condition, crews transported the man to Capital Region Medical Center, a regional trauma center, for advanced medical care. The prompt response was critical in addressing the significant injuries the man sustained.

The Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office is now handling the investigation into the Waldorf hit-and-run. Investigators face a challenging case with limited initial information. Leaving the scene of an accident that results in serious bodily injury is a felony in Maryland. A conviction can carry significant penalties, including fines and imprisonment.
