WALDORF, Md. โ€” Emergency personnel responded to a harrowing crash shortly after midnight on Saturday, June 28, after a man was struck near the intersection of Mattawoman Beantown Road and Council Oak Drive in Waldorf. According to dispatch the call came in at approximately 12:15 a.m., and units arrived on scene within minutes.

Responders initially described the pedestrian as having a pulse but โ€œbarely breathing.โ€ He was reported to be in critical condition with significant trauma, including a twisted limb. EMS units requested a helicopter medevac, but inclement weather made an airlift impossible. The victim was ultimately transported by ambulance to a nearby trauma center.

The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation. Official statements indicate the man was struck by a vehicle while in the roadway.
