WALDORF, Md. โ Four people were rushed to area hospitals Sunday afternoon following a serious rollover crash on Crain Highway that ejected one person from the vehicle. A helicopter responded to transport the most critically injured patient from the scene.
The collision occurred around 1:09 p.m. on September 7, 2025, at 2855 Crain Highway near Golden Corral restaurant. According to dispatch, the single-vehicle accident resulted in one person being ejected from the overturned vehicle. Multiple Charles County emergency units and helicopter services responded to assist.
First responders found a 24-year-old man with severe head injuries and a Glasgow Coma Scale rating of 5, indicating critical condition. Additionally, a 36-year-old woman sustained a possible broken leg, and an 8-year-old girl required medical evaluation. Officials have not specified the fourth patient’s injuries.
Emergency Medical Services transported the critically injured 24-year-old man via Trooper 7 helicopter to MedStar Trauma Center. Meanwhile, 8-year-old girl was transported to Children’s National Medical Center. Additionally, the 36-year-old woman received transport ambulance to MedStar Trauma Center.
The Waldorf rollover crash caused significant traffic disruptions on northbound Crain Highway near the Golden Corral restaurant. Additionally, emergency crews established a helicopter landing zone on the roadway, requiring temporary lane closures. Heavy southbound traffic and power lines complicated the emergency response operations.
The cause of the rollover crash remains under investigation. Emergency operations continued for over four hours as crews managed patient care and scene cleanup.
The condition of all four patients has not been officially released by hospital authorities.
