The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Wildlife & Heritage Service announced today the waterfowl blind site licensing schedule for Maryland waters. The initial phase of licensing will take place August 2 at designated locations in each county (see list below). On August 3, licensing will take place at these locations and at DNR offices located throughout the State. Thereafter, licensing will take place at DNR offices located throughout the State.
A 2010-2011 or 2011-2012 Maryland resident hunting license must be presented in order to participate in the lottery drawing and licensing process (except for landowners or people with the written permission of a landowner who desire to license their own property). All applicants must present their Maryland driverโs license or other photo identification to prove residency and to affirm they are the individual assigned to the required hunting license. The 2011-2012 Maryland hunting license is now available at any DNR sport license agent, online at www.wildlifelicense.com/md or by phone at 1-800-918-2870.
Applicants should arrive at the designated location on August 2 between 7:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. to be processed. Individuals arriving after 8 a.m. will not be eligible for the drawing and will have to wait until all lottery applicants have completed their selection. A lottery will be held at each location starting at approximately 8:30 a.m. on August 2. This drawing will determine the processing order of applicants for that day. Once selected, applicants will be limited to a maximum of eight minutes to select their blind sites; no more than two sites per hunter may be selected per day.
Landowners wishing to license their own property should bring a copy of the property information (available online at http://sdatcert3.resiusa.org/rp_rewrite) and a tax map or other legible map showing the exact location of the shoreline to be licensed.
Licensing will end at 4:30 p.m. on August 2. Licensing will be open 10:30 a.m. โ 4 p.m. on August 3 and 8:30 a.m. โ 4:30 p.m. thereafter.
Preview maps of shoreline licensed by riparian landowners will be available on July 15 at locations listed below. The maps will also be available on DNRโs website at www.dnr.state.md.us/wildlife by July 15th.
