WALDORF, Md. — Christian, a standout track and field athlete from Westlake High School, is currently in second place in his group as of Friday, Aug. 15, for the national Youth Athlete of the Year title, which includes a $25,000 prize and a feature in a 3BRAND advertisement in “Sports Illustrated.”

With a 5.0 GPA, membership in the Westlake High School Honor Society, the National Society of High School Scholars and the National Honor Society, Christian is recognized for both his academic and athletic achievements. On the track, he has earned more than 300 medals, four high school state championships, and distinction as both a Nike and Adidas High School Track and Field All-American. He will continue his athletic career at Columbia University, where he has been recruited for track and field.

Voting for the Top 10 closes Thursday, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m. PDT (10 p.m. EDT). Supporters can vote for free daily or can donate to increase their vote count, with proceeds benefiting the partner charities.
Christian says he loves the thrill of competition and the satisfaction of getting faster and stronger. Inspired by track and field legends Jesse Owens and Carl Lewis, he admires how they persevered through racism and adversity to become gold medal champions in multiple events.

The competition, operated by Colossal.org in partnership with the V Foundation for Cancer Research, the Why Not You Foundation and 3BRAND, invites the public to vote for their favorite athletes. The Why Not You Foundation was founded by NFL quarterback and Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson, whose mission is to empower youth through education, health initiatives and leadership opportunities.
More information and voting are available at colossal.org.
