At about 10 a.m. June 26, a citizen approached a Charles County Sheriffโ€™s officer stopped at a traffic light on northbound Route 925 and advised a van that was traveling southbound on 925 and made a turn onto Leonardtown Road was driving erratically.

The officer located the van traveling slowly in the right lane of Leonardtown Road near Pika Drive. The vehicle turned ontoย Post Office Road and struck the curb.

The officer conducted a traffic stop. When he approached the vehicle, he saw the passengers, a 34-year-old Clinton woman and a 2-year-old boy, were not wearing seatbelts.

The driver was identified as Jerry Lamoore, Jr., 68, of Upper Marlboro. Another officer arrived on the scene and determined Lamoore was intoxicated and placed him under arrest.

During a subsequent search, officers discovered a loaded handgun concealed in a pocket in the driverโ€™s side door.

Lamoore was charged with carrying a concealed handgun, driving under the influence, negligent driving and failure to restrain an occupant under the age of 16 by a safety seat. Officer D. Snyder investigated.
