UPDATE: St. Leonard Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Solomons Library Stabbing

SOLOMONS, Md. — A woman was injured in a stabbing at the Southern Branch Library on Monday morning, August 4, 2025, prompting a law enforcement response that led to the immediate arrest of a suspect.

Deputies with the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched around 10:08 a.m. to the library on HG Trueman Road, where they found an adult woman with a stab wound. She was flown to a regional trauma center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

An adult male suspect was located nearby and taken into custody without incident, officials said.

The library is closed for the remainder of the day as investigators processed the scene. Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The motive remains under investigation, and the names of those involved have not been released.
