Del. John Woodโ€™s annual golf tournament and bull roast this year also marks the beginning of the election season with the 2014 primary just 10 months away. Wood (D: 29A) has served in the Maryland House of delegates for 27 years and is expected to run for re-election.

The event at Breton Bay Golf Course and Olde Breton Inn as usual was a bipartisan affair, with just as many Republicans as Democrats in the large crowd that attended the bull roast after the golf tournament at the Leonardtown course.

Even though fellowship and great food from Baileyโ€™s Catering were the order of the day, that didnโ€™t stop political talk from buzzing through the large tent and the surrounding grounds overlooking Breton Bay. In attendance were all of the county commissioners (except Larry Jarboe), most of the school board, Sen. Roy Dyson, Delegates John Bohanan and Peter Murphy and announced County Commissioner Candidate Joe St. Clair. Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler was also there, with his gubernatorial announcement expected next month. But the star of the show was former governor, Marvin Mandel, who Wood introduced and asked to speak.

There was chatter among the attendees about who would run against Roy Dyson (probably Cindy Jones and probably not Larry Jarboe), whether Bill Mattingly would run for Jarboeโ€™s seat (probably) and whether Gansler had a chance against Anthony Brown (uphill but probably will win St. Maryโ€™s County in the Democratic primary),

Wood and his wife Barbara stood at the entrance and greeted guests as they arrived. And he thanked everyone for their support during a short speech.
