Narrative:    On Saturday, April 1, 2017, just before 5:30 a.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Glen Burnie Barrack responded to a reported personal injury collision involving a single motor vehicle on S/B Rt. 295 @ Rt. 175.


The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006 Mitsubishi was traveling southbound on the Baltimore Washington Parkway at Rt. 175, when, for reasons unknown at this time, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle came to rest in lane number two.  A passenger, Keona Johnson, was ejected from the vehicle and into lane one.  She was pronounced deceased at the scene by Anne Arundel County EMS. The driver and all other passengers were transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with what emergency medical personnel described as serious life threatening injuries. 

The Maryland State Police Crash Team responded and is continuing the investigation into this crash.  The cause of the crash has not been positively identified at this time and remains under investigation. 

No charges have been filed at this time.  Upon conclusion of the crash investigation, consultation with the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office will occur regarding charges.

MDOT State Highway Administration personnel, including CHART, responded to assist at the scene.  Southbound lanes of the BW Parkway at Rt. 175 were closed for approximately five hours, while the investigation and crash clean up occurred.
