CALLAWAY, Md. — Emergency crews responded Wednesday afternoon after a teenage boy suffered burns following a dirt bike crash in Callaway.

At approximately 3:58 p.m. on March 11, 2026, firefighters and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the 20700 block of Piney Point Road for a reported traumatic injury.

According to dispatch information, a 13-year-old male sustained burns after wrecking a dirt bike. The caller reported the boy’s leg was burned by the motorcycle’s exhaust after the crash.

First responders arrived to find the patient suffering burns extending from the thigh down to the ankle.

Due to the nature of the injuries, firefighters established a landing zone near the former Second District Volunteer Fire Department building for a Maryland State Police Aviation Command helicopter.

Maryland State Police Trooper 2 arrived and airlifted the patient to Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., for further treatment.

The extent of the teen’s injuries has not been released.
