GREAT MILLS, Md. – Detectives with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigations Division have arrested a 15-year-old male juvenile of Lexington Park for the murder of 26-year-old Marcus Anthony Day in Great Mills on April 4, 2023.

The 15-year-old juvenile was located and arrested in King George County, VA on Friday, May 5, 2023. The juvenile will be charged via warrant as an adult with First-Degree Murder, Second-Degree Murder, Use of a Firearm in a Violent Crime, First-Degree Assault, Second-Degree Assault and Possession of a Firearm by a Minor.

Due to a recent change in Maryland law, the juvenile will not be identified by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and no booking photo will be released until a waiver hearing is conducted to determine the jurisdiction of this case.

St. Mary’s County Sheriff Steve Hall wishes to thank the King George County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Christopher Giles for their cooperation and assistance in the investigation.

  1. I understand the “minor” component, but there should be at least some information on how the whole situation evolved so that law abiding citizens can be more alert on suspicious activity and better prepare to defend themselves.

    1. Why? Just defend yourself, I don’t care what Maryland law stipulates, I carry everywhere it’s my right

    2. That’s why you carry, I don’t care what Maryland law says I can and can’t do,
My life and my families life are worth way more then their carry laws

  2. Someone didn’t teach him respect for life . Confirm he has no mental disability then provide punishment . I’d rather see Capitol Punishment , which is alternative to those whom failed him by not teaching respect for life . Capitol Punishment sends a message , society will not put up with murderous behaviors .
    FAAFO !

  3. 15 young and dumb i know the victim family very nice and respected people i hope he rots in hell lets see how big and bad you are behind bars

    1. Do you know the victim family?? Because as much as I hate to speak ill of the deceased, Marcus sure wasn’t a good dude. He also thought he was big and bad; he was ‘respected’ insofar as I wouldn’t want to antagonize him for fear of him becoming violent. Not saying he or his family deserved this, nobody does. But painting him as the picture of innocence shows a disregard for (or unawareness of) the truth. RIP Marcus. I hope your story serves as a cautionary tale about decision making for our youth.

    1. You can thank Donald and the Supreme Court for the loose gun laws that allow for easy access to handguns, etc., even for a 15 YEAR OLD, so you can stop with the ‘Joe’ comments.
