Local band, 15 Strings, is proud to announce the release of their first CD, “Out of the Box”.  A release party will be held on October 9 at 6 p.m. The party will take place at the Patuxent Pub and Grill, located at 258 Town Square Drive in Lusby. Admission is free.  Entertainment will be provided by 15 Strings and many other talented, local musicians.  There will be door prizes, 50/50 drawings, and a car show presented by the Southern Maryland Camaro Club. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Proceeds from the 50/50 drawings will be donated to a little girl from Port Republic suffering from juvenile Metochromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD), a rare, genetic, terminal illness. 15 Strings is a trio of extremely talented musicians that formed in 2013 out of a desire to play “more than bluegrass.” Comprised of Dale Ferguson, Woody Norris and Tom Cratty, they entertain with tunes ranging from the most traditional of bluegrass, to the Kruger Brothers, to Credence Clearwater Revival. The group performs in all venues ranging from small restaurants to large events like the 2013 Bluegrass for Hospice. There is nothing too large or too small.
Dale Ferguson, of Hollywood is an exceptional banjo player with an extensive musical history including many other bands such as Charlie Thompson & Bottom County Bluegrass and The Grim Pickers.  Dale has a distinctive melodic playing style that demonstrates what a mastered musician he truly is. Woody Norris, of Park Hall has been playing guitar since he was 9 years old. He began playing lead guitar with the band, Spoon Creek, in 2007 and continues to perform with them. He credits Doc Watson and Tony Rice for influencing his fantastic flat-picking style. Tom Cratty, of Port Republic started playing music when he was 42 years old, learning dobro, guitar, and then bass. He began his performing career playing guitar with the Jack Tippett Band, then in 2010 joined Spoon Creek, playing the bass, and continues to perform with them. He has now added electric bass to his repertoire. Dale, Woody and Tom add their own personal touches to each piece they perform with their unique lead-singing styles and melodious harmonies.
