LAUREL, Md. – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Tuesday morning. The deceased driver is 40-year-old Louis Sanchez Smith of Laurel.
On August 12, 2025, officers responded to a single-vehicle collision in the 11400 block of Laurel Bowie Road in the unincorporated section of Laurel, which had occurred at approximately 12:05 a.m.
The preliminary investigation indicates Smith was traveling southbound on Laurel Bowie Road, when for reasons still under investigation, he lost control of the vehicle and struck multiple trees. Smith died at the scene.
