LEONARDTOWN, Md. — In the wake of a shooting that left two people injured outside Action Lounge & Billiards earlier this month, the Leonardtown venue is taking immediate steps to strengthen security and adjust its operations.
In a statement released this week, Action Lounge said it was “deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident that occurred in the parking lot during the early morning hours of October 11, 2025,” adding that community safety remains its highest priority.
The business announced that it will discontinue DJ entertainment and close at midnight on Fridays and Saturdays—two hours earlier than before.
The changes follow a violent altercation that began inside the lounge and continued into the parking lot, where shots were fired around 2 a.m. Two people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Following an investigation, detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division executed a search warrant on October 14 at a residence on Mane Pooh Lane in Leonardtown. Officers recovered a Glock 9mm handgun believed to have been used in the shooting and arrested 24-year-old Shaekwon Talib Jackson of Lexington Park.
Jackson faces 19 charges, including four counts each of attempted first- and second-degree murder, assault, and multiple firearm violations. He was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center to await a bond hearing.
Action Lounge’s management thanked patrons and community partners for their continued support, saying the new measures reflect the venue’s commitment to providing “a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.”
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident. Who was the DJ that night?
Changing the hours is good because no one needs to be out drinking at 2am. Changing the DJ is good also, depending on the type of music being played. If it was rap or hip hop, ban it! You obviously didn’t learn from those clubs in Waldorf that played them.
Why have a DJ…at a Billiards place (aka Pool Hall)?
