ST. MARY’S COUNTY, Md. – Reports have been circulating that all three Shoppers locations in St. Mary’s County are set to close. These locations include Leonardtown, California, and Charlotte Hall.
Customers have already noticed signs that were put up around the storefronts stating that the stores will be closing.

As of right now, the anticipated closing date for the stores is Saturday, April 27, 2024, with the last day for employees to be May 10, 2024.
The California and Leonardtown locations only opened less than a year ago on April 27, 2023. The Charlotte Hall location opened in July.

I’m not surprised these stores didnt last a year, they are expensive compared to there competition of Food Lion and Walmart
The one in Charlotte Hall smells like they old McKay’s did Terrible.
They can not run a business. That’s why they are closing. But yes.. please blame Biden…
The whole county is a food desert.
๐ Really? And what is the basis for your statement?
HOW? Explain???
My waistline didnโt need any more cronuts anyways! Sad they werenโt getting the business but the few times I shopped there my meats and dairy were nearly spoiled by the time I got home. It seemed everything was close to their date. Which, I guess if nobody is buying is to be expected.
Maybe the county commissioners will take this into an account next time!
No wonder. They were very expensive and the quality of meats and produce wasn’t very good.
McKays abandoned us in Charolette Hall after many years of making profit off of us. Hope they never come back. Now we have 1 store within a 15 mile radius and it is the low bidder . We need help! Shoppers was just fine for 90% of the products. Same as all the other stores.
