NORTH BEACH, Md. — North Beach is looking for a new town councilmember. In a July 21 announcement, the town said it is seeking “qualified individuals” to fill the position and represent the community’s interests. Applications are due by July 25.
This council position will fill a vacancy left by Councilmember Paul Troncone, who moved outside the county and is no longer eligible for the role. Troncone stepped down on July 17. The newest councilmember will serve out the remainder of the 2022–2026 term.

To be eligible, candidates must:
- Be a resident of North Beach, Maryland, for at least six months
- Reside in the town during the entire term of office
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Be a registered voter in the town
The councilmember will be expected to attend monthly meetings and offer guidance and support on ongoing projects for the town’s development and well-being. Candidates will be evaluated and interviewed by the mayor and current town council members.
According to North Beach outreach manager Kevin Schmidt, the ideal candidate “is an engaged community member with a passion for local issues.”
Schmidt added that knowledge of government finances, infrastructure and public affairs is a plus but not required, and that a passion to serve the community and strong ethical behavior would help a candidate stand out during the application process.
If you’re interested, don’t wait — applicants must submit their materials by Friday, July 25, 2025. To apply, send a letter of interest, along with a brief résumé and biography, to info@northbeachmd.org. Questions or requests for information can also be sent to that email address.
Schmidt said the mayor and Town Council will appoint a new member at the September council meeting.
