At 8:50 p.m. Nov. 18, Charles County Sheriff’s officers observed a suspicious male standing on Rooks Head Place near Wakefield Circle in Waldorf and Officer T. Yates approached him.
Officer Yates identified the man as Roy Montez Thompson, 27 of Waldorf, and while he was speaking to him, Thompson struck Officer Yates in the chest and fled on foot.
Officer Yates pursued Thompson and apprehended him after a short foot chase. Investigation revealed Thompson was in possession of marijuana and a handgun.
Thompson was arrested and charged with possession of a concealed deadly weapon, carrying a handgun, second-degree assault, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.
He was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner.
