LEONARDTOWN, Md. — The St. Mary’s County Library is celebrating 75 years of serving the community, and they’re marking the milestone with art. This October, the Leonardtown Library will host a special community exhibit, and local artists are invited to submit works inspired by books, reading, local history and all things library — from the past to the present.
Submissions will be accepted until Monday, Sept. 15, at 5 p.m. or until the library reaches capacity. Only one entry per artist will be accepted, and all pieces must be family-friendly and suitable for all ages.
The library is working with the St. Mary’s County Arts Council to coordinate the show, and all submissions will go through the Arts Council.
Accepted artwork may be delivered to the Leonardtown Library between Monday, Sept. 22, and Thursday, Sept. 25, during regular business hours (9 a.m. to 8 p.m.). Artists must receive acceptance confirmation via email before dropping off work.

Other Anniversary Highlights

The art show is just one of many ways the St. Mary’s County Library is marking its 75th year. Earlier this year, the library hosted a special Library Card Design Contest, inviting the community to create original designs.
The winners were:
- Youth: Maggie
- Teen: Noah
- Adult: Eden
These winning designs will be featured on limited-edition library cards, making them a keepsake for book lovers across the county.
