PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Purple pride was on full display Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, as the Baltimore Ravens RISE High School Football Showdown swept through Calvert County, treating students and fans to a day filled with NFL spirit.
The Ravens caravan — featuring Poe the mascot, cheerleaders, and the Marching Ravens — made stops at Beach Elementary, Huntingtown Elementary, Barstow Elementary, Dowell Elementary, and the Patuxent Appeal Campus. Inside gymnasiums and outdoor blacktops, students clapped along to the Marching Ravens’ drums, posed for photos with Poe, and cheered as Ravens cheerleaders lifted teammates skyward in stunts.
Calvert County Sheriff’s Office school resource officers joined in the festivities, sporting Ravens pride and posing for photos with students and the team’s mascot. Their presence added to the community atmosphere while highlighting their role in local schools.
The excitement carried into the evening at Patuxent High School, where the Ravens helped set the stage for a marquee matchup between two reigning state champions. Families in purple gear, deputies cheering from the sidelines, and students waving pompoms filled the stands for the showdown presented by Dunkin’.
The event is part of the Ravens’ RISE outreach series, which brings the team into Maryland communities each fall to celebrate youth, school spirit, and football. From the youngest fans meeting cheerleaders to officers engaging with students, the day highlighted the connection between professional sports, education, and community pride in Southern Maryland.
