The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs starting pitcher Wade Korpi would keep the game locked at zero through the first three innings tonight at Regency Furniture Stadium, but would then surrender five runs in the next two innings as the Blue Crabs dropped a 6-3 decision at the hands of the Lancaster Barnstormers. Striking out eight through 5 2/3 innings, including seven in the first three innings, the Barnstormers starting pitcher Horacio Ramirez helped defeat Southern Maryland by allowing just five hits on the night and no tallies through the first four innings. Both teams would also belt three home runs each, but the Blue Crabs would all be solo, while the Barnstormers, whoโ€™d score six runs off of three blasts.

With runners on first and third and no outs in the top of the fourth, Southern Maryland left-handed pitcher Korpi worked himself out of dangerous territory by retiring the next two batters he faced, but would be unable to escape the inning with a 0-0 score, as former Blue Crab Kody Kirkland hit a three-run home run to take the 3-0 lead. Lancaster would strike again in the next frame, this time with a two-run home run compliments of Barnstormers shortstop Olmo Rosario, who hit his sixth home run of the season to give Lancaster a five-run lead. Then throughout the next three innings Southern Maryland would chip away at the score by adding three home runs of their own for the second time in as many games. Outfielder Cyle Hankerd would jumpstart the offense by hitting a lead-off home run in the bottom of the fifth. Outfielder Jeremy Owenโ€™s would follow suit by hitting another home run before the conclusion of the inning to reduce the Barnstormers lead to just three. Then catcher Alvin Colina would come within two of Lancaster as he led-off the bottom of the seventh by belting the ball over the left field wall on his very first pitch, but it wouldnโ€™t be enough to put momentum in the Blue Crabs favor as the Barnstormers tallied another home run (the sixth home run of the game) in the eighth for the 6-3 score and eventual final.
