Boaters escape injury after crash in Chesapeake Bay

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Two groups of boaters narrowly escaped injury Friday afternoon after a power boat and a sailboat crashed into each other in the Chesapeake Bay near Annapolis. 

Around noon on Aug. 17, the Maryland Natural Resources Police, Anne Arundel County Fire Department and United States Coast Guard responded to a two-boat collision off of Thomas Point. 

MDNRP says the sailboat from Annapolis was struck by a fishing boat from Kent Island. The crash resulted in the fishing resting on top of sailboat. 

Luckily, no boaters were injured from the crash. The United States Coast Guard is investigating.
