ST. LEONARD, Md. — Both parties involved in a domestic disturbance at a St. Leonard residence face assault charges after deputies say each claimed the other was the aggressor in an altercation that reportedly left both with visible injuries, according to charging documents. Morgan Renee Huffer, 27, of St. Leonard, was arrested at the scene, while Sean Austen Fox, 30, of St. Leonard, was later charged via criminal application.

Calvert County sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on Oakcrest Drive around 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 7, 2025, for a report of a domestic disturbance. According to court documents, the two parties had been living together at the residence for approximately three months.

Court records indicate Fox told deputies that both he and Huffer had been drinking throughout the night. Fox reportedly stated that Huffer made an aggressive statement toward him, which initiated an argument from a disagreement the two had. According to the statement, Fox eventually told Huffer she needed to leave the residence for the night since it is his home, which allegedly escalated the situation.

Deputies say Fox claimed Huffer hit him multiple times, throwing both slaps and punches. Fox reportedly told deputies he pushed Huffer off him twice, causing her to fall onto the bed. According to charging documents, glass was broken and belongings inside the residence were reportedly damaged during the altercation.

Court records show deputies observed visible signs of injuries on both parties while on scene. Fox reportedly had red marks on his right forearm close to his elbow as well as an abrasion on his right forearm closer to his wrist. Authorities say Fox also had a cut that was slightly bleeding on his right leg, possibly caused by broken glass. According to the statement, Fox claimed his face was red from being hit, though deputies on scene reportedly were unable to see any visible injuries to his face.

Officials reported that Huffer had visible abrasions and red marks on her left elbow consistent with an altercation. Court records indicate both parties claimed an assault had occurred.

Authorities say the decision was made to take Huffer to the Calvert County Detention Center and that Fox would be charged with assault through a criminal application. Huffer was placed in custody on Oct. 7, 2025, at approximately 10:57 p.m. and transported to the detention center.

Both Huffer and Fox face one count of second-degree assault, a misdemeanor carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment and a $2,500 fine under Maryland law if convicted. Court records show both parties were offered the opportunity to complete a domestic violence assessment, which they declined, according to officials.

Huffer was released on personal recognizance following her initial appearance on Oct. 8, 2025. Court documents indicate she waived her right to an attorney and was determined by authorities to be ineligible for public defender representation. A trial is scheduled for Nov. 17, 2025.

Fox was charged via criminal application and issued a summons on Oct. 10, 2025. A preliminary inquiry is scheduled for Dec. 1, 2025.

Court records indicate the case was listed as suspended pending additional charges against Fox.

All proceedings will take place in Calvert County District Court in Prince Frederick. The State’s Attorney’s Office for Calvert County is prosecuting both cases.
