St. Mary’s County detectives arrested a 16-year-old male juvenile from Valley Lee Saturday and charged him with two counts of attempted murder after he allegedly solicited an undercover detective to help him kill his parents.
According to Lt. Rick Burris of the St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations, the boy was charged as an adult; however, detectives have declined to release his identity.
“We’re not releasing his name to protect the victims,” Burris said.
Burris confirmed that the boy was arrested as a result of an undercover sting at a hotel in Lexington Park, during which the boy allegedly asked the detective to kill his mother and stepfather.
“We set up an undercover officer, and they had a conversation about it,” Burris said.
Burris said that, “as far as he knows,” the boy is still in police custody.
