At 7:37 a.m. Oct. 29, Charles County Sheriffโ€™s officers responded to a residence in the 6100 block of Tapir Place in Waldorf for the report of a burglary in progress.

Investigation revealed the victim, a 25-year-old Waldorf woman, came home and found the suspect hiding in an upstairs bedroom closet.

The victim fled the residence to the parking lot outside. The suspect chased her outside and confronted her, then fled to a nearby residence.

Witnesses advised officers which residence the suspect fled to and that the suspect was still inside. Officers checked the residence and located the suspect hiding in the bathtub behind a shower curtain.

He was arrested and identified as Al Travon Gardner, 18, of Waldorf. Gardner was charged with first- and fourth-degree burglary and was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner. Officer R. Bagley investigated.
