The Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office recently purchased two new RADAR speed trailers to address and track traffic complaints throughout Charles County. The new solar-powered units are designed to remind motorists of their speed, alert them when they exceed the speed limit, and compile statistics on speeding trends in a particular location. No traffic tickets will be issued from the speed trailers nor do they photograph vehicles. The statistics will be used to conduct enforcement activities when appropriate.

Citizens may call (301) 932-3062 to request that a unit be placed in their neighborhood. Each unit will remain in one location for 5 to 7 days unless other circumstances exist, and a log of the rotation and speed survey results is being maintained by the Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office.
