
LA PLATA, Md. – Looking for a chance to sing with live symphony orchestra? Come to the Charles County Youth Orchestra’s Messiah Sing-Along Concert on December 5 at 7 PM at Christ Church, La Plata.
The Charles County Youth Orchestra will perform selections from Handel’s oratorio “The Messiah” and the audience is invited to sing along in several of the great choruses including “For Unto Us a Childs is Born”, “Glory to God” and the iconic “Hallelujah” chorus.
Vocal scores will be available for use by audience members. In addition to the Messiah, CCYO will perform holiday favorites from the Nutcracker ballet and popular carols including Greensleeves and the Ukrainian Bell Carol.

The concert is free—donations are accepted. Christ Church is handicapped accessible.
Mid year auditions for CCYO will take place on February 7 from 9 AM to 12 PM at Christ Church, La Plata. All levels and instruments, except piano, are invited to audition. Audition requirements and sign-ups are available at https://www.charlescountyyouthorchestra.org/auditions
CCYO includes four ensembles: Prelude Strings for beginning string players, Encore Strings and Encore Band for intermediate musicians, and The Charles County Youth Orchestra for advanced musicians. CCYO serves students from Prince Georges, St. Mary’s, Calvert, and Anne Arundel counties, as well as Charles County.
