Chesapeake Beach Water Park Opening

CHESAPEAKE BEACH, Md. — The highly anticipated Chesapeake Beach Water Park remodel is set to receive estimates from Paddock Swimming Pool Company in July.

Paddock was hired in April to conduct exploratory testing and research at the existing water park site. At the Town Council meeting on June 12, a Paddock representative discussed their findings. Advised by the water park committee, Paddock centered its goals around possible new designs and how to use the existing foundations and structures to rebuild the park.

Despite its age, the park has strong foundations in place and most structures are still in their original locations. This makes rebuilding those structures easier and more efficient and offers a promising outlook on longevity for the park as a whole.

The Town Council hopes to be ready for the 2026 season — a fast but possible goal if everything goes according to plan. Projects of this type typically take approximately four years to complete.

The town is eager to get the ball rolling and leverage Paddock’s network of contractors. The estimates are a major step forward in the new water park process, since they will allow the Town Council to set and approve a budget and timeline for the renovation, which will, in turn, allow Paddock or another company to begin the work.

Chesapeake Beach Water Park has been closed since the 2023 season after running on an operating deficit. The existing park also was in dire need of certain repairs that made the park’s safe opening unlikely in 2024. The existing park is 30 years old, and previous conversations included updating the park as is or demolishing it to make way for an outdoor aquatic center.

The town released concept plans for the new water park in September 2024.

  1. Did the current administration campaign on reopening the water park? Guess that was a lie, looks like the last administration was right

    1. At least this administration is doing something and keeping the citizens informed. The old administration had their own hidden agenda. They needed to go !!
