LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A new splash of creativity is now on display at Lexington Manor Passive Park, where students from Chopticon High School recently designed a colorful sensory path as part of a community art initiative. The project was completed in partnership with the St. Mary’s County Arts Council and St. Mary’s Department of Recreation and Parks.
The interactive path invites children to hop, spin, balance and explore movement in a playful way. Sensory paths like this one support physical activity, focus and self-regulation — while keeping things fun and engaging for all ages.
Lexington Manor Passive Park, located at 21675 South Coral Drive, Lexington Park, MD 20653, is designated as an “Arts Park” and already features walking trails, outdoor fitness stations, a disc golf course and a community garden.

See It at the Community, Culture & Cuisine Festival June 28
Don’t miss your chance to experience the new sensory path in person during the second annual Community, Culture & Cuisine Festival on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lexington Manor Passive Park.

This free, family-friendly festival will celebrate the vibrant cultures of Lexington Park with global food vendors, cultural performances, interactive art stations and more — from Jamaican jerk chicken to St. Mary’s stuffed ham, and entertainment ranging from Filipino dancers to the Piscataway Nation Singers & Dancers.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to take part in hands-on art experiences, such as a graffiti wall, paint-splatter shack and community mural projects — just like those that inspired the new sensory path.
