NORTH BEACH, Md. — The Novel Bakery mobile cafe is a common sight around Calvert County. The truck keeps a regular schedule in North Beach year-round and is a staple at local farmers markets and festivals.
The cafe sells coffee and select baked treats, as well as its new $5 breakfast wraps. The truck’s goal is to combine a love of coffee with a love of books, and they’re best known for their specialty espresso drinks and teas. The Novel Bakery also changes its menu to go with the seasons and help give customers the festive vibes they love.
Soon, The Novel Bakery will be moving into its very own storefront right in Chesapeake Beach, located at 3737 Chesapeake Beach Road. The bakery is still in the permit process, so there’s no opening date yet, but the dedicated team has promised to keep locals updated through their Facebook and Instagram pages.
Fans of The Novel Bakery can also follow the truck to see the latest schedules, menus and, of course, photos of their delicious scones. The dedicated team posts weekly to make sure everyone knows where to find them. We had the pleasure of tracking them down outside their future storefront and trying out a book-themed tea and breakfast wrap.
Here’s some of what The BayNet loved best about The Novel Bakery!

Specialty Coffees And Teas
The menu changes. The truck serves Peet’s coffee, so you get that consistency in flavor with a ton of fun options. We got a tasty hot chocolate and a “Molly Weasley” — a chai tea latte with chai tea, syrup, h&h, whipped cream and cinnamon sugar.
All of the specialty drinks are named after books or characters, which made ordering an experience all of its own. From Bilbo’s birthday to Vampire Lestat to Artemis Fowl to Frog & Toad, everything was on theme. We’re excited to see how the book theme plays into the store once it opens.

Breakfast Wraps
The breakfast wraps are a fairly new offering — and they didn’t disappoint. They come with eggs and your choice of bacon or sausage and American or cheddar cheese. We went with bacon and cheddar, but this wrap would’ve been good in any combination.
The wrap was fresh, hot and filling. The wrap itself was also a little crispy, which was really satisfying. The best part? Breakfast for only $5.
Like the other offerings, you should check The Novel Bakery’s social media pages to make sure they’re serving breakfast wraps that day.

Baked Goods
Unfortunately, as late arrivals to The Novel Bakery, we missed out on their usual scones and muffins. Good news for everyone who got there early, though. The scones in particular are always super popular and sell out fast, so if you want to try one you’ll have to beat the crowd.
The Novel Bakery also adds specialty baked items to the menu when they can, so keep an eye on their social media for new offerings. Book-themed, of course.
Follow The Truck
Not literally. We’ve said this a bunch, but this food truck is great at keeping customers updated on its Facebook and Instagram. It’s the best way to keep track of them while they’re still strictly mobile — and hopefully, you’ll also get to be one of the first to know when there’s a grand opening date for their brand-new store.
Make sure to find this fabulous coffee food truck on your travels — and don’t forget to bring your favorite book.
