The Calvert County Commissioners announced Jan. 25 thatย Maureen Frederick has been appointed clerk to the Board of County Commissioners. Frederick replaces Corinne Cook, who served in the position for seven years. Frederickโ€™s primary responsibility is to coordinate the commissionersโ€™ agenda, acting as liaison with county department heads and outside agencies to schedule business items and presentations to the board. She will also be responsible for maintaining official records. โ€œIโ€™m excited about the position and my new responsibilities,โ€ Frederick said. โ€œIโ€™m also flattered by the boardโ€™s confidence in me. I love what I do for the county and our citizens and look forward to this exciting challenge as I transition to my new position.โ€

Frederick started working for Calvert County Government as a temporary employee in March 2009. She was hired permanently in the county commissionersโ€™ office in August of that year. Before joining county government Frederick held other administrative positions and also served in the U.S. Army. Frederick will work under the supervision of county administrator Terry Shannon, who describes Frederick as โ€œawesome. โ€œMaureen is a hard-working, dedicated โ€˜roll up your sleeves and get it doneโ€™ employee,โ€ Shannon said. โ€œShe always displays a positive, can-do attitude.โ€

Commissioners President Pat Nutter [R] said he is excited to see Frederick get the new position. โ€œIโ€™ve known and worked with Maureen for several years and have always been impressed with her organizational skills, professionalism and work ethic,โ€ Nutter said. โ€œIโ€™m confident sheโ€™ll be an asset to the county and the board of commissioners.โ€ Frederick was appointed on Jan. 3
