DUNKIRK, Md. — A Lusby man was arrested in Calvert County after deputies discovered suspected Suboxone strips during a traffic stop in Dunkirk, according to court records.
Emanuel Greenwell Guy Jr., 61, of Lusby, is charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance not cannabis, a misdemeanor under Maryland Criminal Law §5-601(a)(1). The charge stems from a traffic stop that occurred on Jan. 31, 2026.
According to the statement of probable cause filed in the District Court for Calvert County, a deputy conducted a traffic stop at approximately 8:23 p.m. in the area of Southern Maryland Boulevard and Apple Way in Dunkirk. The vehicle, a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe displaying Virginia registration plates, had a registered address in Lusby despite Maryland residency requirements. The tags were also reported to have expired that day.
Guy was identified as the driver. A passenger was also in the vehicle. During the stop, the deputy learned Guy did not possess a valid driver’s license and further determined the vehicle was uninsured. Based on the deputy’s training and experience, additional questioning was conducted regarding possible narcotics.
After receiving consent to search the vehicle, deputies located two unopened Suboxone sublingual film strips inside Guy’s wallet, which had been resting on the center console. One strip was labeled 12mg/3mg and the other 8mg/2mg. Suboxone is a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance and may only be possessed with a valid prescription.
According to court documents, Guy told deputies he did not have a prescription for the medication. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center without incident. The Suboxone strips were submitted for laboratory testing.
In addition to the drug charge, Guy received traffic citations for driving without a required license and knowingly operating an uninsured vehicle. He was later released on his own recognizance on Jan. 31, 2026.
Court records show his trial is scheduled for March 17, 2026, at 1 p.m. in Calvert District Court, Courtroom 2.
