GLEN BURNIE, Md. — Two people were arrested Wednesday evening after police say a firearm was passed between crash participants at the scene of a two-vehicle collision in Anne Arundel County.

Officers responded around 7 p.m. on Dec. 10, 2025 to Elvaton Road and Hidden Brook Drive for a reported motor vehicle crash. During the investigation, police learned that the driver of one of the vehicles had handed a handgun to a woman who was also on scene. Officers recovered a loaded 9mm Glock 43X from the woman shortly afterward.

The driver, identified as Raphael Szeman, 28, of Stevensville, and the woman, Lilian Hazel, 27, of Annapolis, were both taken into custody. Each faces multiple misdemeanor handgun charges, including possession of a handgun on person and possession of a loaded handgun. Szeman also faces two additional counts related to having a handgun inside a vehicle.

Court records show both were released on their own recognizance on Dec. 11. They are scheduled to appear for trial on Jan. 26, 2026, in Anne Arundel District Court in Glen Burnie.

No injuries from the crash were reported.
